In my experiences I learned that maintaining good and effective communication with all team members is essential. I also learned that feedback should be given privately and that praise should be given publicly. Conflicts are almost inevitable, but a leader who knows his team knows how to treat them or how to avoid clashes and direct all efforts towards the common goal.

A Machine Learning Team is no different than any other team so there is no reason to treat it differently. The age old techniques of conflict resolution hold good for ML teams. What is different about ML teams is that their outcomes are unknown and they require some more patience. ML might be new but human beings and their inter-personal dynamics is very much the same.

Sometimes not acknowledging issues even with good relationships with team members causes heartburn and friction among the team. The moment and issues are identified , one should acknowledge , communication effectively and clearly to parties involved. Decide whether it is in your purview if not then alert the responsible person. This will enforce Respect, Transparency, Org value among team members.

In the dynamic world of machine learning, conflicts are bound to arise like bugs in a code. But fear not! Embrace them as opportunities for growth. He gives direction to the team and directs efforts to achieve the objective. Knowing how to use this diversity requires mastery on the part of the leader and especially knowing how to manage the conflicts that will occur.

Implementing the right machine learning solution involves picking the right techniques such as Supervised , Unsupervised ,Reinforcement learning or ensemble methods to choose a combination paired with the right testing method such as A/B testing , train test split, Cross validation along with proper evaluation criteria will help in implementing the right solution for the right problem

In my experience, engineers working in machine learning are not necessarily industry experts, nor are they familiar with the problems that face their colleagues from sales, HR, accounting or logistics. Most of the time, they are asked to "do machine learning", "data science" or even "innovate" and the poor lads don't even know where to start. For a machine learning or data project to be effective, all the organization needs to be involved, not only the engineers. I found out that teaching about AI to all people in the company is the very first step towards building relevant and robust solutions

While machine learning and non-machine learning teams share commonalities in navigating conflicts, such as organizational goals and collaboration, the nuances lie in their distinct technical expertise, problem-solving approaches, toolkits risk assessment and metrics/KPIs.

It's very important to create an environment where questions can be asked and issued brought up. If people fear asking questions or being wrong, it can blind leadership and allow problems to continue and fester. It's far better to spend the time treating teammates questions with consideration than to have a team where no one is willing to raise their voice.
