Definitely set expectations when students are working together. I also think it’s a good thing to assign a task to each student. Not all students will take the initiative to assign a role and one student may end up doing all the work. When an educator takes it upon themselves to assign each student a role and the tasks - it takes the pressure of students who may not know how to fairly distribute the workload.
