Here's how you can navigate a change in leadership with your boss in the Cloud Computing field.

I take a deliberate approach and first focus on understanding the new boss's vision and aligning my efforts with their priorities. Organizational goals and strategies often change with new leaders. So, I need to understand what they were hired to do, and the drivers behind those decisions. After allowing a reasonable time for them to ramp up (during which they usually meet with me to understand my area), I start by having a detailed conversation to grasp their goals and expectations. For example in cloud computing, if the new boss prioritizes enhancing our cloud infrastructure's scalability and security, I would highlight my contributions in these areas to align with these goals.

In my experience with the previous two companies, I have seen that everyone has a different approach to taking on cloud computing. Some leaders are keen to adopt and change quickly, while others are skeptical about ROI and take a slower approach. It's good to assess where your new leader stands, understand their vision for the near future, and how you can contribute to that vision. Cloud computing changes daily, and embracing the changes with proper planning is essential.

Stay adaptable: Embrace the change and be willing to adapt to new leadership styles and priorities. 3. Build relationships: Seek to understand their goals and expectations, and align your work accordingly. 4. Stay focused: Despite the change in leadership, remain focused on your goals and continue to deliver high-quality work. Stay positive and demonstrate your value to the team.

1. Show what are the areas that should be on premises and what should move to cloud and why and what is the RoI. 2. Give some examples and get approval for some experimental strategies. Complete the experiment with in two weeks and share the results. 3. Demo the same to all stakeholders and get a buy in 4. Show that we up-skill the resources and let go who can’t make it. Show how the bottom line is affected and minimizing any risks of cost overruns while adopting to cloud. 5. Show RoI

Communicate proactively, it will help to create an impression of your forward thinking and avoid uncertainty. Think bigger not only about your assigned task but also how it will impact.

In my view showing initiative is one of top quality towards long term success. One of my mentor told me that "Never ask your boss promotion, instead ask for opportunity, as that opportunity can take you way beyond" and i have continuously practice this mindset throughout my career. I have always asked my managers opportunity to learn new things. It's important that you asses what are key goals of your team/org. and tap new opportunity which aligned to your organization and your common goal. Continuously look for chance to contribute. If new technology / solution area has surfaced, get involve, take ownership by proactively volunteering it as lead. As this will allow you to learn new things, take new challenges, towards greater success.

Cloud does not stand still. Availability changes, quality changes, business models, new market entrants, hybrid, and multi-cloud keep all of us on our toes. Be educated on these topics and be willing to run plenty of POCs to vet the optimal solution for the present.

When taking on new projects, make you have the foundational skills required so you can do your day job and the additional project without something breaking. This is a good opportunity to ask for help with a missing foundational skills, or add it to your development plan. Carefully consider if you are likely to be successful in the additional project, and pick one that you think is suitable.

Navigating a leadership change requires proactivity and a willingness to adapt swiftly to new dynamics. Demonstrating initiative is crucial in this process. In the field of cloud computing, this can mean anticipating needs and issues before they become critical. For example, if your company is adopting a new cloud platform, take the lead in learning about this technology on your own. Attend webinars, online courses, or obtain relevant certifications. Additionally, suggest innovative ideas that could optimize the transition and show that you are committed to the team’s success. Volunteering to lead or collaborate on projects integrating new tools or processes can impress your new boss and solidify your position as a valuable team member.

Speak your mind. Share your experience and introduce new ideas supported by your experience. If you are not making the team and the experience better, you are not succeeding.

I always spend some time on LinkedIn after a change in leadership. I almost always have contacts that can shed light on a new leaders style and communication preferences. I’ll reach out to a mutual connect and plainly ask how to be an asset to a new leader and how they prefer to interact with their team. I get great advice from excolleagues of my new leader but I’ll also leave space for the leader to be different than any expectation. One of my adult children are in this space and I have instilled in her (and my sons) to be curious about everyone they meet. It needs to be authentic but at first it is like eating or writing with the opposite hand. It takes practice if you are not a natural extrovert but the continuous learning is priceless.

In the business world, social intelligence refers to the ability to create relationships with coworkers and managers. If there is a shift in leadership, you must be patient and open-minded in order to form new relationships and establish a common ground or need with your new management. Trust and a good functional relationship are required to achieve enhanced productivity and smooth project work in the field of cloud computing. You must form ties with other people in the computing area in order to broaden your horizons and experiences, and you can do so by exchanging with your social and professional networks.

Collaboration across different areas of the company can provide new perspectives and insights that enhance strategic discussions. Engage with teams in operations, finance, sales, and marketing to gather diverse viewpoints and understand the broader impact of any proposed cloud strategy.

Again, learnt from some of the best management I have worked with, get to know each other. Not just on a work level, but on a personal level. Our Exco would have bi-weekly or monthly sessions with a group of people in the company to encourage getting to know each other and sharing. The small company I worked for our CEO would have 20 people at the start of every week having breakfast for 2 hours. We used to introduce ourselves, our team and what they/we do as well as who we are as a person. After all, we are all unique and have our own preferences for communication, how can you effectively work together without knowing how to communicate with your colleagues?

Keep you up to date with all the news in the sector, even in the cloud or any sector, especially in the cloud, and what has been done and updated from the vendor side. Check the news every day about all the cloud vendors, like Oracle, AWS, IBM, Google, Azure, and others. that will keep you from cost, and services that have been added and technology too will help me determine what is best for you and your team. Always make a session every week and share the news and the new tech in the sector with your team. Let your manager be updated with the new tech by sharing with him by email, conference, or one-on-one meeting, and show him how the new tech will facilitate the work and increase efficiency.

Patience is difficult, especially if you have to start delegating tasks that you know you can do faster. I've learnt that sometimes you have to delegate and step back so someone else can learn and grow. After all, how did you get to the position you're in? Someone had enough faith in you to give you a next level task and trust that you would be able to get it done, but also be open to you approaching them where you struggle so they can help you. Work on your emotional intelligence and use it in the workspace. Soft skills are required in everyday life and you will be surprised at just how much you can accomplish by using them effectively

Like in any computing projects, the process can be complex and lengthy. Patience allows project managers to maintain focus on long-term goals and objectives, rather than getting bogged down by short-term frustrations and setbacks. Also experimenting and enjoying the process of learning, tweaking makes a world of difference to what you, the team and the manager in meeting the objectives as a group.

Last but not least, patience is key. It takes time for everyone to adjust to a new boss and their style. Give your new leader time to get up to speed on your cloud projects. Keep a positive attitude, keep doing great work, and be patient. Your reliability and consistent performance will shine through and pay off in the long run.

Don't fight it, but try to embrace it and if it really doesn't work don't just complain. Come back with an alternative and/or information on what the problem is, why its not working and how you think it can work better with any supporting information to help showcase the solution

If it won't work out as you wished there are always several possibilities: - you soom will get a new boss - you can move to another department in your company - you can move to a partner/customer company or - you can start a new profile or become your own boss. There are always more positive possibilities than threats, especially in times when every company is searching for new talents. :-)
