Let's say if you're interested in build a great algorithm for a particular domain. The first thing to do is start from the basics. One of the most important thing to keep in mind is "focus on the foundations before diving deep into the concept". These are some words said by legends in this industry. If you know what you're doing, you will be fine in any case.

I was in my first year of college. I was studying 2 languages at the same time. Java from college and C++ from myself. I wouldn't recommend learning 2 languages at the same time, especially if you're a beginner. But I am gonna tell what methods I used to understand the concepts. Firstly I learnt the syntax and the concepts from a youtube channel. then completed its assignments so that I could verify that I understood what I learnt. Then don't forget to revise when you forget some topics, because it's necessary.

Someone will ask whats the difference if they know better than me or not. It actually matters in the long run. You are directly affected by the peer groups you're in. Let's say there is a group A which has 3 people. One is good at Algorithms, another one is good in web-developments, and the third one is good at lets say AI. So at the end, everyone is good at something or the other. So in the long run, you can help each other.
