Here's how you can navigate a boss who disregards your input in automotive manufacturing.

This can be difficult if we don't look to address the issues at hand. When I face this issue I would look at using the following steps: 1. Communicate effectively - if we give information making it crystal clear to them they are more inclined to take this in. But keep this brief as possible. 2. Build a rapport with them. If we have a strong relationship with someone, there is much more chance of engagement. 3. Try to seek clarity from them to understand why they are disregarding our input. 4. Document our contributions to show our efforts especially if required at a later date. 5. Remain professional and proactive at all times regardless of how challenging this may seem. Remember, never take these issues personally.

Talk to your boss like you would talk to your best friend. Ask him, or her what the heck is going on, and why they disregarded your input.

First of all, it would be more effective if we could find the reasons for disregarding it, find the reasons not only reason. Imagine you are the boss, what would be more important to you and your production targets?

In all actuaility your list is way too short, thinking you could easily add budget constraints, lack of knowledge or technical understanding, not all bosses are techincal. Facts is this a very subjective, and every case needs to be handled as such, typically the when you say your "piece" is as important as the what you say, softer tone, explain vs tell, present as an opion to be consisidered vs a fact to be driven home.....and then accept the outcome

Catching enough information about the problems and issues, your ideas, using all data and statistics, and finding remarkable evidence will give you enough power to negotiate.

Throughout my years in the industry, I've found that inclusive communication is key when presenting your ideas. Ensure your suggestions are clear, concise, and backed by solid reasoning. When an idea is proposed, explain how it can benefit the manufacturing process or address a specific problem, and make sure to consider everyone's perspectives. Use language that resonates with the stakeholders interests and concerns, while also inviting input from colleagues. If your input is disregarded, ask for feedback to understand their perspective. This can provide valuable insights and help you refine your approach for future discussions. Inclusiveness and open dialogue make for stronger, more effective solutions.

Continue to work on Continuous improvement: Bosses are pressurised to come with new innovative product ideas to compete competitors and reduce cost of production. These are usually stress points for Bosses and they work having their own ideas for which there is not much of time as Automitive industry is evolving in a fast phase. My suggestion is to work on improving the existing processes in which you are an expert. Yes process improvement brings lot of time time reduction in manufacturing and breakdown. Take a small activity and improve using a Kaizen or working with your colleague to find a new process to reduce time. Your Boss may get impressed and demand more friendly in coming days
