But the most important thing is, starting with 2-3 questions, if we answer them properly then well and good otherwise confidence, proper dress and punctuality will all be lost. Offering a firm handshake is only universal in the USA. Other countries have other cultures and when the hiring manager has a different perspective. It is easy enough to tell, this needs to reactive on your part. My experience with people from certain areas of the worlds was that how they took my offered hand told me exactly how much or how little pressure to use.

If you walk into an interview and you are not ready to discuss your resume in detail, what the heck are you doing there. No need to be the orator Cicero was, just know your stuff. Speak slowly, enunciate clearly, do not fake it. The number 1 way job applicants anger me was to step on the end of my sentences. Until the question is finished, don't answer it. It is a job interview, not Jeopardy.

Resumes: problem to be solved, resources to solve it, and solution. Not on your resume: step by step list of how you solved the problem, numerate them. That is for the interview. The answer is not on the ceiling, don't look there. Knowing your resume means knowing how to answer the questions that are asked. A truly great resume will generate the questions you most want to answer. Details take away the dreaded, "tell me about that" question. Do not be afraid to talk about how you screwed up. This is vital. how did you fix it, what did you learn. Folks that have risen high enough to hire didn't get there because they made no mistake. Word of caution, this can be a cultural challenge, do you homework.

You will be nervous during the interview. Reduce that nervousness before hand by going over your resume, pointing out to yourself your capabilities. Remind yourself of stories of things you have done. You have a history -a good one where you did things valuable to this employer. You can do this job. Tell your history by using those stories from your resume. For the stories use, phrases like: "During my time at ..." "When I was ... at...., we..." "I exceeded our targets at...when I..." "That sounds a lot like when I was..." "By doing...when I was at...I was able to..." Then, gently guide people back to your resume AFTER you tell a story. Say something like "You'll see that on my resume under ..." Know your resume and thus, know yourself

Senior level jobs are not filled with one interview, often more than two. They need more clarity and most likely, so do you. Making big$$? Good. Before you interview for the last time, or even next to last time, write down your questions (about work, not benefits or money) and send them to the person you will be reporting to. They will appreciate it. If they do not, keep looking, they are fools. Email underlings, handwritten thank you notes are great, unless sent to total tech nerd who doesn't read cursive. (joke) Seriously, leave hand written thank you notes for friends and family. A text message thank you is really poor taste in a professional setting. (OK interoffice for small things, then follow up with a word later), Be courteous.

Just double-check with a close friend or family member to ensure that you do not make this mistake. It's more common than you might think!

Interviewers may ask "What do you know about this role?" and sharing a summary of your understanding about the role shows preparedness and your genuine interest in the role. Besides, understanding the job description and prior preparation helps in aligning your skills with the job requirements, asking insightful questions, and answering the questions confidently, making a strong impression.
