One of the useful ways to engage remote teams is to: 1. Outline the objectives and the parameters of the task that needs to be performed. Allow enough time for clarity seeking questions. Always rehash what you need done so that it’s all clear. 2. Give 28-48hrs for the team to develop their approach and start with the preparation so that they are engaged with the tasks and have a feel of its practical demands. 3. Let them present the detailed execution plan back to you so that you can sign it off. Depending where the remote team is from you, they will probably have a better understanding of the environmental and contextual factors than you and will help refined the plan for better execution.

As a sales leader with 30 salespeople underneath me I struggle with managing and motivating remotely. Our associates are all remote. Within 100 miles of the office in Tampa. It’s important that when we all meet up once a week for our Monday morning meeting we set expectations for the week. We then have two accountability calls, one on Tuesday and one on Thursday to touch base and measure where we are on their goals followed by a call in report on Friday. Obviously throughout the week I am in communication daily, starting at 5am, to see where everyone is for the week and how I can help. Perhaps they need you to be more responsive to particular approvals they need. When asking if your team needs support, don't just say "any help I can give?" Take that step further, "I know there's a big deadline coming up and we suddenly needed to pull you away for a couple days for another project. How are you feeling about it now, is there some way I can help provide more support for you?" Also add some fun!

In additional to previous parts, I always give them the lead. First I train, mentor and support, then achieve targets. Next step is how to make him feel responsibility and commitments towards his colleagues. 1- I used to give him some topics to provide trainings on so he can share tips and tricks. 2- Invite him to special meetings or events 3- Ask him to lead team 4- If possible, I would provide an interns to work with him/her.

This needs to be done more often! Virtual meetings for public and private recognition is important, perhaps sending out a virtual certificate or even a physical swag item and make it big for the big achievements and milestones! Encourage people to celebrate together, every small win counts and every sentence to show appreciation is important. Make sure to pay attention to what you're rewarding though as it can impact and encourage future behaviours - Make sure you are working with HR and management to ensure what your rewards and compensation strategy is like.

Structure will set you free. Structure supported by clearly communicated expectations and priorities will set your remote team on fire. Structure ensures that you know how and when outcomes will happen. It also ensures that employees know when they have flexibility. One of a leader's most important roles is to clearly communicate expectations and priorities. A remote work team can manage their workload and their lifeload when they are sure what is expected of them and when it is due. Provide the structure, clarify your expectations, and communicate the priorities, then get out of the way and let them perform.

Different between each one is the flexability toward the change and adaptability toward new goals, targets, etc. I am always having a problem with people who says we can't or that's impossible. However I prefer people to say, it's challenging but if we provided these resources we will be able to deal with it. It's high target and very challenging but can be done by increase expenses in these 1 2 3 4 which will lead to get this goal done. Based on the above ones, I would discuss the opportunity of development and improvements for the team and work.

Growth without support from all departments would consider a fatal mistake. Team should be ready for the upcoming sales, requests, inquires and everything. Otherwise operations will fail to commit to requirements, team will burn out, customers will complain and we will have a bad review.
