Team performance is not a concept that can be measured on an ad hoc basis. Here, I will rather talk about recurrence and measuring it repeatedly over periods of time, then analyze and to analyze the correlation between each measurement, observe the evolution or regression and use the 5 whys to detect and identify the causes and the consequences on team performance as a whole and over time. Having only 2 to 3 indicators and monitoring them regularly, with recurrence, is better than having ten and abandoning them after the second or third measurement.

In as much as other methods count viable, I know peer feedback would be the best way to measure team performance. However it best works in an environment of open communication. This can help evaluate what is working and what is not and what needs to be adjusted.

Always have a pre and a post survey, as this will help you to gauge the quality and effectiveness of the peer support process. Doing a survey before the group or interaction can help us to understand what a peer’s needs and wants are, and also determine their baseline for wellness. Knowing what is expected and important to the participants also helps you to identify meaningful content, and gives the participants confidence in your deliverables. We as humans, are all looking to be relatable and understood, so these practices increase the quality of the experience. And post surveys let us know how we did, and what the participants thought was important and helpful.
