Fundraising is a game of networking. I may know maximum 10 to 15 funding partners but cannot have approach to all the financers. Networking makes the life easy. I may have expertise in raising money from PSU but other can have good experience in raising Private Equity. Collaboration with such network heps you to tap the maximum possible market

I think this and networking are the most critical points when thinking about your internship. What skills do you want to gain from an internship? For example, I sought out an opportunity to utilize a specific CRM at one internship as I knew it would make me a value add. Another internship, I sought out opportunities to work on annual giving campaigns. Read job descriptions, but don’t be afraid to ask for certain exposures. If it will help your career goals, employers will often be amenable to giving you experience!
