This enables us to determine the pattern of a problem, the nature of the identified problems and the sources of the problems. As a professional, this will come through brainstorming, cross function discussion and team review of the identified problems. This will enhance a clear understanding of the problems and the next solution will be to logically resolve the problem without creating more problems to the system.

Analyze data: Facility managers constantly encounter data, like maintenance logs, energy usage reports, and occupant surveys. Hone your ability to identify patterns and trends from this data. Predict future needs: Use patterns to predict future maintenance needs, space utilization, and resource allocation. This proactive approach saves money and prevents disruptions.

We experienced frequent plumbing leaks in various facility areas with no clear cause. Using inductive reasoning, we documented each leak's location, timing, and conditions. Patterns emerged: leaks primarily occurred in older pipes during high water pressure periods. From these observations, we inferred that aging pipes couldn't handle high pressure, causing leaks. To address this, we replaced old pipes with high-pressure resistant materials and installed pressure regulators. Following these changes, the leaks significantly decreased, confirming our inference. This case shows how observing specific instances can identify patterns and lead to effective FM solutions.

Yes problem solving ability is the main reason why We become FM Manager. But in reality i see many of the Positions holding people are just got those positions because they degrade others in front of bosses.. not by performances. In mostly cases. Anyhow if any of the System failure happens during operational peak hours. I will not sit in office like a manager. Eventhough you may have multiple data for making decision, chances of it being wrong is always there. Being a FM manager, making wrong decision is not an option but always expect the unexpected. Always try to have a mitigation plan if the decision made is wrong. If you are in wrong, that is you learning experience. Not making a decision is a already a decision.
