Instead of asking "What are the KPIs for achieving the bonus?" saying "How is success measured in this role and what metrics are integrated into that structure?" is an example.

First, I'd highly recommend is to remain calm. The Second, recognize that you do not have to answer immediately; we live in a world where everything is light speed; someone texts you, and you're expected to text back immediately. In this instance, take a little time. A tough question deserves some deliberation. A good interviewer will appreciate your pause as long as you are confident. Use the time to ask related questions to utilize in your response or consider how this relates to the rest of your conversation (or the area where you are a 'questionable' candidate, if you can be that honest with yourself) and then respond with good examples that demonstrate, to the best of your ability and experience, how you can effectively respond.
