I agree to this point and would like to add: lead with an unbiased opinion. I found asking the person receiving the coaching on how they think they are performing or what’s their opinion. Sometimes it sets the right tone to the entire conversation which eliminates the fear to be called out by management. This could be a small gesture which leads to better team building and amazing team work in the long run.

Being clear and also quick with feedback is very important because it helps people know exactly what to work on right away. When you're specific, it points out the exact thing that needs fixing, so there's no confusion. Giving feedback quickly means it's fresh in everyone's mind and easier to understand and act on. as mentioned just don't say 'you need to be proactive' be specific like "In our last meeting, there were a few times when we were waiting on updates. It would be great if you could take the lead more often and update the team on your progress without waiting for us to ask." This way, the feedback is easy to understand and can be fixed right away.

Clarity is vital while delivery feedback/coaching. With clear direction, goals are achieved within timeline set and at times exceeding expectations. I personally promote live examples, job shadowing or even addressing one’s errors/challenges/weaknesses to the team overall as a learning experience since it’s proven to achieve a team goal rather than just one team members success. When you are not clear in providing feedback, you are allowing the one being coached to make same mistakes again.

I cannot agree more on how feedback is not just addressing issues but also recognizing the effort being put to better achieve work goals. I highly recommend appreciation individually and as a team as well since it leads to a competitive mindset and boost morale overall in meeting business objectives.
