Since I am working with people in my day to day life,I learners to apply empathy a lot because it does not only assist my clients but also myself at the end of the day.you end your day knowing that I have put a smile on someone’s face and I solutioned their problems.

Regardless of the type of work I have done during my adult life I have used empathy to connect with students, clients and customers. It is absolutely a key to successful interactions with coworkers as well as others I interacted with no matter the age, knowledge or financial standing.

past years when I was working as an Engineer in the Elevator field, I had to attend a lot of aftersales services. One of the most important skills I used there was empathy. Sometimes they make trouble when we are unable to attend breakdowns on time. In every kind of situation, the thing I did was try to understand their feelings and talk to them. When they found out that I knew the feeling in their mind, they magically calmed and it was so easy for me to carry out technical operations and also helped me a lot with that.

It seems obvious that conflict resolution is key to a strong team and interactions. I have found de-escalation of situations an equally important aspect of conflict resolution. If people become agitated or feel attacked the brain moves to a fight or flight response causing a minimum 20 minute lapse in problem solving. This alone is a loss for the team or for the positive communication with customers or clients.

Imagine: we're not just sitting in a circle talking about trust falls; we're in the thick of the action, thinking on our feet, and building real connections. I have found that being vulnerable and opening up about past experiences has opened many doors for me. I have the disease of addiction and celebrated 5 years sobriety March 1st, 2024. In these five years, I re-educated to better pursue my passion for social justice, equality and community service. What I hid away so long due to fear of judgment has become an asset and strength in my career path. Working in community outreach and sharing my experience with people who suffer from the disease of addiction, facilitates a strong client relationship and reduces fear of judgment. When you have someone who knows what your going through on your side it opens the door for change!
