My first supervisor insisted on my learning everything about each project. Including the mechanical workings of each piece of equipment including how to repair the equipment. The reason being there won't always be someone around to do it for you. You can make yourself indispensable by your knowledge. Problems are where you will learn the most about your job. Ask questions of those who have done the job before. Take their information and look for ways to improve the job.

Change can be challenging, but it comes with a good impact on all aspects. When you challenge yourself it means you’re stepping out of your comfort zone which elevates your efforts that explores new levels of capabilities you didn’t know about. For example i used to be a technical manager for couple of years then took a none technical role that’s purely related to Human Resources, Contracts & Labor law. This step elevated my managerial skills specially when it comes to dealing with people & government officials that i didn’t know Im capable of doing it at that level.

It is very good and appreciated to think out of the box . This would help in leading and solving complex issue. This would lead to confidence, professional growth, adopt ability, innovation and creativity.
