Try asking learners how they want to learn. I've done this before in class and I was amazed at the creative ideas the participants produced. Then as an experiment, I asked them to teach a section of the material to others using their suggestions. It was very insightful and engaging, and all of them learned and retained the information in new ways. So exciting!

I talk with my students "off-class" regularly to keep up on the same page with the students progress & life. Relations foster better instruction & knowledge transfer.
