Here's how you can maintain motivation and focus in temporary public speaking roles.

Here's how you can stay motivated: Remind yourself why you took the role. Maybe it's to practice, network, or help others. A clear purpose fuels focus. Rehearse your speech out loud. Time yourself and adjust to stay within the limit. Confidence from preparation is a motivator. Before your talk, imagine yourself delivering a clear, engaging presentation. Seeing yourself succeed calms nerves and boosts focus. Temporary speaking roles are a chance to step outside your comfort zone and learn. View it as an opportunity for growth. By focusing on your purpose, preparing well, and embracing the challenge, you can stay motivated and deliver a temporary speaking role with confidence.

Maintaining motivation and focus in temporary public speaking roles can be achieved by setting clear and attainable goals. Begin by identifying what your overall purpose for taking on these roles are- do you want to enhance your skills, expand your network, or boost your confidence? Break this further down into smaller goals that are specific such as mastering a new technique, connecting with audience members, or receiving positive feedback. Regularly review and adjust these goals to stay aligned with your progress. Keep ticking off each of the goals you achieve. This will keep you motivated and focused throughout your public speaking journey.

I often use this one visualization technique to calm down before going on stage. It is especially useful if you are not yet accustomed to speaking in front of a lot of people. What I do is closing my eyes and taking deep breath, visualizing a place where you feel comfortable and safe in that place I visualize a chest and inside the chest there is the key message of my presentation pictured as an object or as a shining ball of light. Whenever I am anxious, I try to connect to that calming image, and it instantly brings down nervousness.

I’ll take engage with passion for 500! This is one of the things I share often with audiences. You have to have passion about your topic and you can’t be afraid to show it. Passion is on of the great differentiators when it comes to public speaking. Engaging audiences is exhilarating but can also exhaustion someone that’s why flowing with passion- limits your thoughts on the longevity of an opportunity and you are locked in that moment. Your goal is to leave this audience before you changed and hopefully they take whatever message and become messengers. There are no guarantees so when you’re pouring into others it must start with passion or the impact is diminished. Approach with passion every time & leave it all on the stage.

Selecting one skill, and one skill only that I want to work on each time we go on stage. One of the problems is that we tried to improve too many things at the same time which result in either know, improvement, or a lot of stress. By leaning into the atomic habits of improving just one aspect time you will see your performance improve no time at all.
