Losing calm in any situation is result of either, 1. Insufficient information or no information and still results are expected from you.- in this case, take a step back and see if you can gather all information, because doing things with lack of information is going to be more problematic instead of resolving issue at hand. 2. Too many things at same time and all seem to be important - & this can happen even if you are a well organised person. The factors are external to you. Put down things on piece of paper & prioritise again, working through mind can clutter your thoughts more instead of solving your problem. 3. Say NO to non-pressing problems -even if it comes from your boss. 4. Practice this consciously to see a behaviour change

Work out your medium term goals. Work out the steps towards your goals. Keep doing the work that has to be done today and look for problems in doing tomorrow's work. If there are more challenges coming up, look at how to handle that challenge and include those steps in your work. Do not get agitated. Look for ways and means of satisfying the customer if he is getting affected. Prioritise these actions. Ensure you are communicating very actively to all the stake holders. When challenges are more, senior people can get worried. Communicate with seniors more. Communicate with your team and other teams as needed about actions to be implemented in the next few days. If you were reviewing once in a week earlier, make it twice a week now.

In manufacturing we must stay organize. Conducting a weekly meeting at operational level to identify all manufacturing problem, find the solution which shall be executed and completed within the following week. This is also will build a stronger teamwork in manufacturing At the beginning, this weekly meeting can take up to 4 hours, but given the time the meeting will only last 30 minutes at the most. By then your manufacturing will be problem free, smooth running as expected.

From my experience we don't act immediately to solve a problem, in order to not waste the efforts we have to look into the problem and study it carefully... Is it happening regularly or this comes as irregular rarely happening. So once we identify this we put a corrective measures and plan to solve the problem and put a continuous improvement plan also to keep it under observation and monitoring that it will not happen again.

Therefore you have to compartmentalize your emotion, keep other feelings locked in the room, so that your logical mind could work without distraction(feelings). I find that an important way to stay present in the current moment is to LISTEN. It is critical not to let your mind wander with all of the stress and complexity and instead, actively listen to the manufacturing team. Often, new and important data is being conveyed in the moment. As a product manager, you have a unique opportunity to be a nexus of new, incoming data and may be the first one to help spot an important connection. But you have to stay in the moment and let new and important information influence your thoughts.

I find that humor reduces tension and unlocks creativity. It doesn't have to be great humor; dad jokes, puns, movie quotes, even dark humor can release your mind to discovery and an 'aha' moment.

The shadow of a leader stretched a long way….. So the most important thing when the pressure is on is how you handle yourself and the image and messages that go to your team . So stay calm and pause for reflection and to consider your thoughts - listening is hugely important in challenging situations - you can absorb and also gives you time to think before responding. Then - be clear on priorities - what is critical to be dealt with and focus attention on a few actions. Do not be one a scatter gun

Stay positive and assess the situation at hand and break it down in small easy to handle tasks. Avoid finger pointing and take everyone with you through bad and good. Take it as granted that problems are bound to happen and ask your team members who can best handle the task and solve the problem and assign her/him the task along with proper support to solve the problem. Take good notes of all those unique problems and share with your team how was the solution developed/discovered/implemented. Create a positive spirit of competition among all team members and reward outperformers with recognition, coffee, team lunches etc., ( it does NOT have to be a huge amount of money). Highlight positive contributions by the team members.

I think you forgot Communicate, Communicate, Communicate! It is just as important to keep your team involved when things are going wrong as it is to keep yourself calm. Be open to suggestions from your team. You never have to steer the ship by yourself as long as you have help. This keeps the stress level down, which helps focus.
