Engagement is the most important issue. In an Internship or even in a regular E-Learning course, the driven activity depends on active participation. An example just happened. I am teaching graduate students online in Health Administration. I actively post and add specific applied learning opportunities that would not happen without my activity. Positive, supportive responses are key in this environment!

In E learning as an intern one needs to be very innovative. Innovative ideas can contribute significantly to organisations growth. Hence one should always keep generating new ideas while in E learning.

A good practice is to share your ideas in writing. Writing a clear and concise description of your idea helps you to crystallize your thoughts and present the right amount of detail and data to generate supprt from others. Once you have something in writing, it's easier to circulate it, get feedback, and iterate until you have something truly remarkable.

For any intern that gets the opportunity to enter an environment utilising eLearning as a vehicle to educate, of course embrace opportunities, expose yourself to as much as possible, to show your willingness to develop and understand the companies strategy for their L&D programme, but most of all.. Test if it’s the correct environment for you! How do senior staff react when you share a contribution? Are they open to new technology or “Do they always do things this way”? Do you have the opportunity to positively challenge and learn how to communicate at ‘that level’? Is it an environment that’s going to allow growth? As much as you may be able eager for a FT opportunity make sure it’s the correct environment for you and your future

Our e-learning interns bring strong fundamental skills in Design Thinking to the e-learning companies that give them engaging briefs for part of the summer. Some of them can quickly determine where their work fits into the production pipeline so they ensure their templates, assets, and project files are in the proper shared directory locations. For our best interns, this means they get well inside the tent and can see samples of commercial work from years ago. That alone is a major boost in their critical thinking skills.

Como en toda estrategia educativa es necesario no quedarse atras pues todo va cambiando y muchas veces los estudiantes estan adelantados con la tecnologia. Las habilidades del docente deben pitencializarse de una forma abierta y continua con una disposicion plena a seguir conociendo y aprendiendo. Por eso no hay que permitir que la vieja escuela nos haga caer en la tentacion de recrear contenidos sin considerar las nuevas luces del aprendizaje. Todavia hay docentes que usan materiales educativos que no han variado a pesar de contar con mejores alternativas

There are so many skills that have easy crossover with eLearning Design! Tools like Instructional Design methodologies, adult learning theory, ADDIE or Agile project management, UX Design, graphic design, web design, etc. are all excellent tools that can enhance your skills as an eLearning Designer and make you marketable and promotable.

Keep asking questions, reiterate learning, offer challenges and celebrate wins of the learners. Allow self discovery and learning by doing depending on the content.

It doesn't matter what your job title is; every boss loves someone who can GSD (Get Stuff Done). In a workplace where everyone has similar titles, skill sets, and jobs, it's the individuals who can get things done and think differently that stand out.
