Always when I'm not sure if my photo if good or not I ask my friends and other photographers about their opinion. Sometimes we might think the photo is not special but others might have a different opinion and point of view. Many times it can happen that for you the photo will be meaningful but others won't see it. Keep it anyway!

Is this the result he wanted to convey to the viewer at the moment the frame was recorded? Each photoshoot is unique . The interaction between subject and photographer should be an empathic relationship. You can repeat the technical features of a photo session , but not the human ones . After a photoshoot you need to analyze, not only the technical matters, but also the relationship you established. The lack of empathy can undermine a photoshoot . One needs to examine and evaluate everything. Every time we photograph, we learn something new. The auto critique is essential to progress ( as the critique of your peers ). Be diligent , humble, patient and always try to push yourself further . The only way to progress is if you try . Wise use of light is everything. Not only in the photography world but in art itself and in creativity process. I am not a photographer, yet I have explored the dialogue between light and shadow a lot in art. Light tells a story. He reveals and hides. A smart use of light in any work of art is a great comfort to the viewer's eye. Only through exploring the artist is able to learn about himself as an artist and expand his insights.

I like to compare my images to images that inspire me from other photographers, then try to analyse how or why they chose the composition/lighting/angle etc that they chose, then I try to recreate my image using their techniques. Often, this process helps me to create something unique that I'm proud of.

All 6 points are needed to improve. What I have experienced in my career is failures don't exist. I photographed totally differently to when I was 17 years, compared to yesterday, some 50 years later. Apart from financial consequences, the mistake I made in a job, is my dearest learning curve. Without mistakes, analyzing, revisiting, experimentation and reflection on those mistakes, you miss the biggest opportunity to progress. To improve, which can happen on almost a daily basis. The stimulus I/you get thinking like that, has no direct monetary response, but over time it will. The many possibilities to reflect on, your style forms, your technical signature develops and in my case my interest in my profession grew and still grows.
