A simple view of what planning will entail is: Who, What, When, Where and Why. In the plan should be how you measure progress, time consumed, and cost. How do you test or confirm success. What resources are needed from the team or outside the organization. The Communication plan around who is the audiences, when communication takes place, and how to communicate. Be sure to have regular plan reviews to allow for change, learning and issues. Plans are guides not set in stone, so be prepared to adjust. Do not plan your project to death. Plan sufficiently to get started and embellish the plans as needed. Many projects die of planning overload.
