To teach students to think critically, and logically, we must have them apply the course material in new and unfamiliar ways. They can start by applying to their own life, then applying to unique circumstances they have not encountered before, and gradually adding in additional complexity. With consistent feedback, and practice, students learn to use material and not just recite it.
