To understand the needs of your team members, start by talking with them one-on-one. It’s also good to watch how they work and see what makes them happy or frustrated. By doing this, you can figure out what each person needs to succeed and feel valued. This helps you create a work environment where everyone can thrive.

In my experience one of the most effective ways to motivate team members is to create an environment for co-creation. A regular practice and space to understand the individual and collective needs creates this space, however it is a challenge that many teams do not set time for these activities. If the team lacks motivation, this is for sure an area to spend time on.

Vision & Purpose: Clearly communicate your team's goals and the impact of their work. Show how their efforts contribute to something bigger. Empowerment & Trust: Give your team ownership of their tasks and trust them to make decisions. This fosters a sense of accomplishment and responsibility. Recognition & Rewards: Acknowledge and celebrate individual and team achievements. Public praise, bonuses, or small gifts can go a long way. Growth & Development: Invest in your team's learning and development. Offer training opportunities, workshops, or conferences to help them grow their skills. Positive & Supportive Environment: Cultivate a workplace culture of encouragement, collaboration, and open communication.

I totally agree, listening with empathy is very important. Leaders must listen to understand and find a satisfying solution. The good leader is the one who knows that each caliber is important and irreplaceable because everything can be taught.

After the successful completion of a challenging project, I publicly recognised the hard work and individual contributions of each team member at a team meeting. Nothing motivates a person better than the feeling that they "matter" and that you "care" as a leader. In the crazy fast world of modern organisation the misplaved focus sadly remains on task, productivity, time and resources. While apparently "managing" these the leaders forget the most important reason for their existence- which is to ensure the team remains motivated and delivers high quality results. Thus constantly reminding oneself the need to "care" and truly make team members "matter" is a good recipie for leadership success.
