In my opinion the very first step of tackling a business or other real world problem using AI is to cast the problem to one or more existing AI tasks. Put it in another way, is to identify AI technologies that are suitable for the project. Finding the right AI tools for a given problem can make an impossible project possible, or speeds up progress by tens, hundreds and even more times literally, depending on the nature of the problem.

What is the root cause of your problems? - Is (more) technology really the answer? - What will be the total cost of ownership in relation to the additional revenue/savings? Think about house keeping and maintenance. - Make or buy? Do you have (enough) freedom to operate? How important is time to market to you? Especially the answers to the first two questions may save you a lot of time and money.
