I agree with the general approach outlined. In addition, from experience, I would like to add that it is ok and good to be generous, kind and understanding. It can be tempting to be insular, selfish and calculating and we should protect our and our teams' interests. Nevertheless, generosity and kindness in research often comes back in other ways. People respond to kindness. Always be the better person but with wisdom and caution.

Conflict is also crucial in any business to measure our quality of work. Critiques from co workers are essential to improve our productivity as well as sometimes arguments with others support us to boost our analytical and critical thinking. Especially when we try to present logic to others towards their opinion. Constructive criticism is essential for work and through conflicts we can achieve them for the betterment of our work.

First, I read a lot of people suggesting that we remain objective. This is colonized and outmoded thinking. Objectivity is NOT possible. All research, work, and life experience is experienced from your own perspective. Knowing and understanding that perspective is key. Second, all these approaches are western capitalistic conflict management styles which are inherently adversarial and isolating. No, indeed seek Indigenous wisdom with a sharing circle or more inclusive communication mechanism. Conflict is never just one person against another. We are social creatures and recruit others into our conflicts. Therefore all those recruited must also be included.

A researcher should rebut the argument with appropriate knowledge. Research outcome may vary from others, but you must have strong explanations.
