One thing i found very helpful is mentorship. Impact both mentor and mentee in different ways. In my opinion, it acts as a shortcut for the mentee to have a clear understanding of things that could be vague and misleading. Also it connects the dots for young people aspiring for innovation in their work. While on the mentee, it offers new perspectives to his current knowledge of subject. I believe mentorship is a two way learning process and knowledge transfer.

Embracing the challenge of new technology has to start by experiencing it first hand.. knowing the tips and tricks while mastering it.. then only we can truly value its potential..

No one is naturally able to use a given technology to its fullest potential without practice. With practice comes success, but more importantly, so too does failure. You have to remember that failing is a constructive process. Try your hand at things, if you don’t get it quite right the first time, find where you went wrong, and continually improve. This is especially true in engineering, where new technologies are meant to make a process easier, not to do the job for you. You still have to put in the work to improve your craft.

Leaders that are responsible to maintain hard deadlines do not always have the same freedom/time to fully explore the breadth of functionality that new tools provide, because we understand how much work it will take to meet expectations if the new tool fails to surpass our tried and trusted methods. At the same time, young professionals do not always have the experience or expertise to see potential fatal flaws that may end up costing more or hindering confidence of leaders putting their name behind a product. Open and unhindered feedback from both sides is the best way for true improvement at all levels, providing the best chance for the collective knowledge and performance of the team to grow/improve.
