So, you should use your engineering knowledge to optimize the lab works and put enough time on re-designing of lab facilities. Not only it helps you to have high quality researches, but also the next researchers will be motivated to think about new techniques and creative tools. Sometimes these creative tools and methods (coming from your engineering knowledge) would be much more valuable in comparison with the findings of the main research.

Most research is designed to tackle specific objectives or problems, through the use of materials and methods that will provide plausible outcomes easy to understand by the audience. The effectiveness of the result is measured by the response it will receive from the audience which can be highly rated or otherwise.

We should evaluate each project based on the conceptual model and the final model of the project. In this evaluation, personnel performance, financial performance and equipment are evaluated.

Define Objectives The objective must be concise and to the point with clarification. Specific information and insight needed for the project must be identified. Notion of Quality over Quantity cannot be oblivious to the subject for which quality or quantity are in question. For instance, food, nutrition, hunger, all related to diet, might have divergent connotations in terms of quality over quantity. The logic rooted in this common phrase is prioritization. A person dying of hunger, would worry much lesser for food quality, than the one just normally hungry. The question really is a matter of choice between necessity and survival. In research, the quantity is not even a need, let alone a necessity, and least as much a survival. It is a pursuit of truth through experimentation. You cannot reduce or increase the truth, so for research, quantity is indeed non-existential, while quality only matters.

There are two things my mentors taught me 1. It doesn't matter how many times you go to the lab and conduct the experiments, especially if it matches the number of failures. What matters most is the scrutiny of your methods and careful planning to ensure you are barking the right tree, and ultimately, success. 2. People often appreciate the outcomes, but have challenges in grasping the process. Zoom in. See each step of the process and examine how it would make sense in the bigger picture. Connect the dots. Then you do it! Also, consider the implications of your findings and capitalize it to improve your methods. Perhaps these can serve as a good foundation in establishing the quality of your research.

Feedback is quintessential for continual improvement of any academic, research or extension of science and sociological intervention or outreach. Improvement could be across content, commitment, communication, collaboration, management, technology and futurism etc. Seeking independent and honest feedback in a mode of constructive suggestions including criticism. Seeking feedback will be fruitful only if honest treatise to such suggestions or criticism is critically analyzed and formularized and channelized into reappraisal, reform and refinement. The other important need for seeking feedback is its regular and repetitive mechanism as standard operating procedure for not only a research project but any organization in its entirety.

In my current PhD journey, it has been very helpful to always solicit feedback from my supportive adviser. This way, improvements can be made as early as possible in the direction of the research being done.

We discover ways to improve ourselves and the way we work. Reflection becomes part of the arsenal we can use to achieve better outcomes and success in what we do, and who we are to become.

Remember that you are an animal with strong survival skills. We have jumped in and out of domestic and international positions throughout our careers. My wife and I often take turns deciding where we want to go next - then we just move and figure everything out once we get there, e.g. exploring different grazing grounds. It will test all of your adaptive instincts but after a few moves your skills will get honed. Be kind to yourself, because your emotional being is much weaker than your sense of responsibility. Forgive and move on.
