Hardiness is a pattern of attitudes and skills that provides the existential form of courage and motivation needed to learn from stressful circumstances to determine the most effective performance. Grit is more like interest and effort to stay the course for long-term projects. From the literature, the focus must be on interest and, in some cases, emotional intelligence, focusing on self-regulation. I think the notion is challenging as we all have a predisposition to some triggers, and identifying those triggers does weaken them to some extent, but the process is all adaptive.
