"Playing things too safe is the most popular way to fail." if you want to grow and innovate you NEED to take risks. To build a culture where your team feels comfortable taking risks & innovating make sure everyone feels heard and respected. Show that it's okay to stumble sometimes. Learn from mistakes and see them as chances to grow, not reasons to give up. Also, give your team the freedom to explore and make decisions. Let them experiment and find new ways to tackle challenges. Always celebrate creativity and bold thinking. Recognize and reward innovative ideas that push the envelope. And finally, lead by example, by taking calculated risks yourself and support others who do the same because nothing great comes from playing it safe.

I am currently in the inaugural class of cannesLIONS cMBA or creative MBA. I have loved the learning journey and one of the modules focused on failing 'fast' when you are ideating on creative ideas. I have seen this work well, with positive outcomes, and, I have also experienced this not working well, with negative outcomes to people and teams. My biggest lessons learned are that creativity requires a safety net. Creative ideas need risk. Creative ideas, and the teams that create them, need to relinquish control. We need less barriers to creativity including if a project does not go well or have awesome results. Embrace uncertainty! Embrace the ability to fail.

Na nossa vida num todo, com o tempo, percebemos que nunca conseguiremos acertar sempre, nem mesmo, quando somos experts na área. Tendo isso em vista, temos que criar uma perspectiva diferente sobre "dar errado". Muitas vezes, colocamos uma press?o muito grande quando algo n?o ocorre da maneira que esperamos, mas, só existe avan?o, se tentarmos dar o nosso próximo passo. Sempre haverá possibilidade de erros e precisamos entender que esse risco é aceitável, pois, mesmo errando, ainda sim, aprendemos, mesmo que seja a n?o fazer daquela maneira. "Um ser humano que tem medo de errar, jamais irá sair do lugar."

I've found that whenever a team member is tasked with a goal and left to their own devices, they come up with such unique ways of achieving it, that you would be wasting your time trying to guess what they are. So, if you want to create a culture that takes risks, innovates and likes to experiment. Give people with different backgrounds and world-view the challenge of achieving a goal on their own. I promise you'll be surprised!
