Participate in almost all the events conducted/organized by these networks, add valuable contribution from your end to the extent possible, share valuable insights, knowledge & expertise in your subject matter/area of work gained from your experience and learnt knowledge. Initiate & host interesting activities & events to keep the people in your network positively engaged. Make your presence felt in the groups you belong to. Be open to continuous learning & improvement that will aid in personal growth.

As far as the events go, I see them as a gathering place for the “higher end” achievers within a profession or industry. Going to events, especially out of town are not a vacation. They are extra work. This isn’t a bad thing, but what this does is creates a barrier to entry for non achievers and those who do not care as much. So if you are looking to be around the top dogs, make event attendance part of your long term plan. When you go out there don’t “just attend” but fully immerse yourself in the event and take full advantage of the opportunity of a trade show like experience.

Attending events offers new insights, ideas, and info discussed to meeting new people in the industry, usually, achievers to learn from them.

I think that volunteering is a great way to work however, I do think you need to be careful when volunteering sometimes you be taken advantage of. Also feel that you need to find someone to volunteer for that you feel passionate about.

One way I found to keep the relationship strong, is by communicating the goals and vision with these people. When you are in sync on the direction you want to go, it's easier to keep the company and improve it. Everything naturally follows.

I like to mentor and be mentored. I find it mentoring. Someone can be a very filling experience and being meant to you having someone mentor me means I can learn and grow.

Prioritize learning and be guided by the people from the top (of the industry), they know how to get to the top because they're already there.

Everyone benefits from a strong network. But remember, authenticity is key. Don't try to be someone you're not. Expertise vs. Experience: Expertise comes from experience, but they're not the same. Experienced professionals are valuable, but expertise takes time and focused work. Grow Your Network: Connect with people at all levels – senior, peer, and junior. This broadens your perspective and helps you gauge your own expertise. Give and Take: Networking is a two-way street. Offer help and support to others as much as you seek it. By building genuine connections, you'll all benefit in the long run. Be yourself, be authentic, be present.

Don't lose yourself. As much as we want to impress and build new connections and relationships, it's all for naught if you lose yourself on the way. Stay true to your vision, principles and beliefs for these are the foundations of your character. Be open, but don't be a YES man.

Embody integrity and objectivity in your interactions. Your network recognizes the difference between those who are just fun to be around and those who are about business. Don't be afraid to be a professional.
