Ome thing that helped me gain insights into urban planning is researching masters degree programs. Each graduate programme have an emphasis that aligns with different aspitations, strengths and also how you view yourself in the nexr five years. A good way to start is to explore the recent topics that recent master graduates of the programme have explored and the faculty research areas to give you an idea about the thematic space of urban planning . Keep in mind also employability ..Some programs are more geared towards the practise and have high employability.

A number of portals are collecting best practices on sustainable urban development in the EU, the latest of which is called Portico, developed by the European Urban Initiative. In addition, the European Green Capital Award's Inspiration page presents urban perspectives from leading European cities. It is also worth exploring the URBACT's Knowledge Hub and Good Practices sections, as well as the Net Zero Cities Knowledge Repository.
