Internships are truly great to gain practical experience.. in any field.. as you learn on the job and by doing. Unfortunately, in India, we hardly have translation companies and even they rarely offer internships. I worked with established translators.. about 30 years ago.. for almost free or just some pocket money to cover my travel expenses.. we are talking about the non-digital era! The purpose was learning, seeing how they do the research, where do they get their information, which dictionaries do they use and how do they zero down on the correct translation, as the dictionary gives many equivalents!!!!

So... I was at the right place and the time ~ interesting project landed on my desk! As I definitely didn't expect a task of translating a dialect I learned as a child, to English language... from 'komi?ki' that is spoken by merely thousand people in Croatia today. There it was - this rare opportunity, a task - daunting as much as it was divine! And so, this great documentary, filmed on an island in Adriatic sea, found its way across the Atlantic and in front of English-speaking audience!
