That means they think critically about how to teach the target population the skills they need to achieve the desired performance outcomes. Ciertamente hay varios roles involucrados, en mi caso he participando en el dise?o y realización de contenidos, y aunque cada quien tiene un el definido es importante trabajar estrechamente con los desarrolladores si queremos innovar y ofrecer una experiencia más didáctica para el participante y más práctica parte el docente. Como en todo, la estructura debe adaptarse siempre a la función.

My advice as a L&D hiring manager: Tool skills -> Articulate 360 is very popular among many companies and agencies. Programming -> Depending on the role, a basic HTML commands and Boolean language (If/Then - On/Off - 0/1) should suffice. LMS -> If you have been an Admin for 1, then you probably qualify to be an admin for any other. Education -> I look for formal degrees OR someone who has taken the initiative to attend less formal certificate programs. If you can show that you understand the fundamentals of adult learning and instructional design theories plus you have some work samples of your e-learning, then you stand out as a good candidate in my eyes.

Be a lifelong learner. I’ve noticed that opportunities avail themselves when you prepare for them. Do you want to transition from teaching to instructional design? Then plan for it by up-skilling. However, be selective about which learning providers you sign up to: some courses are more practical than others. If you need skills in content curation on platforms like Articulate 360 or learning management systems like Moodle and Blackboard, read the course offering and ensure those are the skills you’ll be getting. Also, understand that instructional design is more than merely building courses - there’s a whole theory and thought process behind it. As such, you need a mixture of theory and practice to distinguish yourself. All the best! ??

You will find that it is much more difficult to pass on the knowledge and keep them engaged, so efficient communication should be in your skill set.

Yo he trabajado con plataformas LMS y realmente me gusta, sin embargo para alumnos muy poco tecnológicos he llegado a implementar sistemas de formación simplificados en plataformas cotidianas como el WhatsApp, lo importante es lograr el objetivo.

There are plenty of free e-learning tools and learning management system (LMS), go and sharpen the tools!!!! Among LMSs, I always love MOODLE for more than many reasons!!!!

Networking can be challenging, especially for newcomers or introverts -like me-. It's important to remember that small steps are perfectly fine & can lead to significant connections over time. I would suggest beginning by joining online forums or social media groups dedicated to e-learning. Platforms like LinkedIn groups, Reddit communities (e.g., r/instructionaldesign), or specialized forums like E-Learning Heroes. Initially, you can simply observe conversations to get a feel for the community. Don't feel pressured to contribute right away. Start by liking posts or leaving comments. As you become more comfortable, ask questions or share your own experiences. Keep in mind that even small interactions can lead to meaningful connections.

Over the years, I have seen great contributors to e-learning sidelined by not being current. Nobody wants the champion who built out an e-learning platform for a client in 1995 and is still using the same backend and user interface. Clients want new cutting edge UI’s that utilize the latest toys the programmers can support. Often thought leaders pitch things that do not yet exist. Following them might make you the one person who can implement that idea that just got pitched.

Always try to follow new things with open mind, even if they do not seem appealing to you, be it new cutting-edge tools, new platforms, seminars, webinars, conferences and all projects that have to do with your field of expertise. The only criterion you should have in mind is to be selective and in constant learning as it is the only way of making progress. Otherwise, if you are not updated with new things in this time of fast technology development it will surely be just a stagnation in your field and work.
