Set a goal of meeting 2 people. When I go to an event I set a goal of meeting 2 new people. It is an easy bar to clear & doesn’t put too much pressure on ourselves. Prepare! Now what is the event? Who is likely to be there? Are their persons or organizations you want to connect with? Yes? Then do research & (Pro Tip) build a question bank! What do you want to learn about them or their organization? DO NOT PITCH THEM. You want to establish a relationship & build a foundation for further conversation. Also, what is more important here, hanging out with people you already know or meeting future people you need to know? If this is your chance to meet these folks, take it and focus on the goal you have set – meet 2 people.
