Having a clear vision is crucial to success! Without it you can wonder aimlessly, like being in a forest without a map and a compass! Spend time and energy on “getting the vision” right. If this means contracting a consultant, do it, or creating a work group to hash it out, do it. Turn this into a “project” with specific “deliverables”, I agree, break this activity into smaller steps. It can be dynamic and change over time, but have a “due date” for your first draft. Engaging the team is smart for a variety of reasons, includes different points of view that you might not have thought about, but more importantly is to get your teams “buy in”, without “buy in” you might find yourself a captain with different team members “rowing” in different directions, which gets the company and team no where! With proper planning, small steps, with defined dates and the program approach you will find it becomes easier to reach “the goal” a clear vision!

By delegating tasks, you send a clear message to your team, you trust them. By working as a team you are now able to get more work done smart and easily. I agree that it is important to delegate but not disappear, you should make yourself available to your team as a resource and actually provide additional resources to them as your objective is ultimately that the team is successful!
