Here is my take on it: 1. Map it out - Define the project in a scope statement - Set the project parameters so that it isn't morphing into other projects (unless that was an intent) - Break out all the steps from start to completion - State project deliverables and intermediate milestones. - Define the personnel needed - Define the resources and items needed 2. Set the items above into the plan and adjust the timing of the project if needed as the steps are completed. 3. Set up communications expectations with staff. If there are any questions, issues or problems, you want to know about it right away. I'm not an engineer but worked with engineers for many years. This is my take on the question.
