A safe space for the executive team also means taking the responsibility for failed ideas off your subordinate's shoulders. I tend to take the blame on myself whenever possible. This allows my team to try new things without fear.

Most organizations only have formal recognition events once per year. In order for a reward to truly motivate an individual, it should be provided in close proximity to the performance.

Too many executives sit on the top of ivory towers. Here are some tips that I can offer: 1) Go to the field, purchase your own product or service—as a real consumer would—and record the experience. Include photos if you can. 2) Visit stores or operations of other companies as a customer would. Compare them with the same experiences at your own company. 3) Conduct online research and gather information about one of your products or services (or those of a competitor). Try reaching out to your company with a specific product- or service-related question. 4) Talk to real consumers in the places where they purchase and use your products. See what offerings they receive, what alternatives consumers consider, and how long they take to decide.

Executives should be open to address the elephants in the room. Taking a simple and common seen example of single use plastic bottles found in all office spaces worldwide. If it’s identified that the impacts of such plastic wastes generated are significant - via insights garnered through simple waste audits or procurement records - thenactions can be taken to reduce Waste Generation through established 3R principles. Some examples could be to REDUCE the availability of bottled water via an “out of sight, out of mind” approach to wean off old habits of grabbing a bottle and drinking from it, provide or encourage the use of REUSABLE bottles and lastly, to educate and provide the means to responsibly RECYCLE the bottles.

The first and foremost thing that comes into my mind is prioritizing creativity! We know the fruits but oftentimes fail to prioritize creativity because we are too busy with mundane tasks. So let’s prioritize creativity!
