I believe, it's a very important to assess the need. Compatibility at various levels will come at a cost. On one hand it's very much desired but it may not be needed across the board. What is the project? Who are the users? What does the future look like over next year or two? How will it scale? Loosely coupled stacks can help to bring compatibility to desired stacks in phases. Assessment of compatibility need and it's impact on budget as well as timeline are important factors.

I also recommend implementing GitOps with tools like ArgoCD or FluxCD which will allow continuous deployment and monitoring. Also to keep up with rapidly evaluating landscape.
