For example, reading a variety of books helps you learn new words just like playing different sports helps you learn new moves.

As a writer, you must write daily, irrespective of any conditions. Make a routine to write. Schedule a specific time in your calendar, especially for writing. Make a goal. Plan the steps and start writing. When I started writing, I aimed to write 300 words daily. Then, I fix a time of the day for writing. For me, mornings are the best. You can see what works for you. The main point here is to write regularly. Do not skip more than two days of writing, as you will lose momentum.

Most people simply don't spend enough TIME editing. For young writers especially, 70% of time should be devoted to revising. (Roughly 20% for pre-writing--such as note taking, outlining, researching, and thinking about the project--and only 10% for getting the initial draft on the page.)
