As a leader I have found out that vulnerability can be a powerful tool. When you’re open about your own challenges, mistakes, and growth, it humanizes you. Remember, vulnerability doesn’t mean weakness; it’s a sign of strength. Particularly at Project level, but equally at Programme and Portfolio levels, I have always tried to set myself a somewhat mythical goal of making myself unrequired. Of course there are times when it is necessary to support and provide governance, but it is hugely fulfilling when team members come with problems/issues as well as solutions and a passion for going ahead with their preferred route. As the team leader you’re there to support but you have to be okay with them doing things differently than what you would have done. Then make sure to recognize their efforts. Praising an experienced person too often for small tasks when they already know they do a good job is often not an effective use of communication. Equally, pointing out every little mistake a person is making if they are already aware, isn't either. Your words will loose power when you over communicate something that someone already knows, and so begin to lack value. Save this kind of communication for the big things and the milestones, and your words will hold much more meaning when it really matters.

Leading by example is easier said than done. I Would like to believe that I do this ever day, but as a parent of 4 adults and grandparent of 9, I have come to appreciate the fact is that I fall short more often than I care to admit. However, because I am an intentional parent, committed to the journey I started on years ago, I have come to appreciate the importance of being able to look honestly at my own missteps and mistakes. This is a part of leading by example I think we need more of. The example of humility and kindness. The example of forgiveness and compassion. These examples can help to bring wholeness to any individual, organization or company.

Hiermit zahlt man auch auf das Thema "Vertrauen" ein, denn Mitarbeiter neigen dazu, Führungskr?ften zu vertrauen, die die Werte und Prinzipien, die sie propagieren, selbst leben. Führen durch Vorbild ist die praktische Durchführung der "Goldenen Regel", denn alles, was man als Führungskraft tut, wird m?glicherweise von allen Angestellten als akzeptabel erachtet.
