One thing I found helpful over the years is to listen intently to the boots on the ground - colleagues in the branch network, junior staff etc. This helps to contextualize strategies and transition ideas into action. My play resembles this: 1. Frame the problem and communicate effectively – is it growth/retention in market share? Expanding into new frontiers? Cost efficiencies? 2. Piece together information gleaned from the team. 3. Draft a comprehensive plan - complete with timelines, incentives, etc. 4. Review – What worked? Didn’t work? New learnings and opportunities? Star performers? Etc Then Repeat… Importantly, practical strategy is more than a document – It’s about People and Culture – everything else lines up after these 2.

Neugierde wird oft Kindern zugeschrieben. Warum? - weil sie noch dieses bewertungsfreie Betrachten haben, was den meisten Erwachsenen abhanden gekommen ist. Dennoch tragen wir sie in uns. Neugierde ist der Start zu Weiterentwicklung, Ver?nderung, Innovation. Ohne sie kann nichts Neues entstehen. Damit ich mich auf etwas einlassen kann, brauche ich die Bereitschaft, etwas neues zu erleben. Der initiale Reiz oder Impuls muss da sein, sonst gibt es keine Offenheit, keine Neugierde.

En base a mi experiencia, un líder con mentalidad estratégica debería dedicar más tiempo a la reflexión estratégica, así como al análisis interno de su organización y del entorno (con una visión actual y futura), siempre buscando un replanteamiento de conceptos clave. Debemos ser capaces de anticipar los cambios. Para ello, es esencial estar muy atentos a los nuevos avances tecnológicos y metodológicos en nuestras empresas, de esta manera, nos adaptaremos e incluso lograremos influir en esos cambios. Entonces, para desarrollar habilidades de pensamiento estratégico, es necesario prepararse constantemente y seguir practicando; esto requerirá mucha disciplina, voluntad y un poco de audacia.

Lernen klingt immer so dramatisch und nach Schule. Dabei ist, sich über ein Thema zu informieren, schon lernen. Es braucht also nicht so hoch aufgehangen zu werden. Ich finde folgende Definition auf den Arbeitskontext bezogen, passen: Lernen soll eine L?sung für ein Problem sein, das bei der Arbeit auftaucht.

Mais également des croyances différentes, des éducations différentes et des divergences d’opinion Ce doit être une force pour votre équipe. Plut?t que d’essayer de faire rentrer tout le monde dans un moule, servez-vous de ces différences pour aller plus loin, plus vite en vous servant des expériences de chacun.

In my experience having a diverse team can bring a lot of perspectives and ideas. This results in a more profound understanding of an occurrence on which a leader must act on strategically. Especially when a lot of range of stakeholders (contractors, subcontractors, multilevel, social compliance, external consultants, cost controllers, accountancy department, ...), are involved and the solution must lead in the re enforcement of a strategic cooperation mid-long term. On the contrary, it is important to listen to anyone who can contribute to a better strategic decision, but at the end the leader must take the decision she/her feels will be accepted and benefit all. The reflecting and pondering after the consulting is crucial to its success.

Selbstreflexion ist etwas, was ich in der Bedeutung erst in der Zusammenarbeit mir Coachees verstanden habe. Dass das in Unternehmen aber so untergeht bzw. nahezu nicht existent ist, habe ich nicht gedacht. Die regelm??ige Reflexion ist ein unverzichtbares Werkzeug für jede strategische Führungskraft. Reflexion erm?glicht es uns, aus unseren Erfahrungen zu lernen und kontinuierlich zu wachsen. Es bedeutet aber, und das ist der Hinderungsgrund Nr.1, sich Zeit für sich zu nehmen und eine Art Zugang zu sich selbst zu haben. Und, dann sind wir wieder bei Coaching-Tools, sich die richtigen Fragen zu stellen. Nicht sich auf- oder abzuwerten, sondern vorbehaltlos sich zu betrachten.

Meditate: Strategic thinking requires a clear and a sharp intellect, with an ability to have a broad perspective. A little time for meditation, everyday, ensures one to let go of any bias that may creep in. Intuitive ability is enhanced with regular meditation.
