Here's how you can enhance your strategic thinking skills as a Higher Education professional.

Having colleagues in other disciplines is useful to enhance strategic thinking because we arrange a get-together in break time between classes at university. There, we can share the newest or the most beneficial changes in our fields. This can act as a banking strategy to brush up on our field of education and to become aware of changes in other fields of study.

Curiosity in higher education is an essential characteristic that drives us to explore new ideas and get out of our comfort zone expertise. It encourages continuous learning and adabtability. In my opinion, when we like what we do, we natuarlly become curious and strive to improve ourselves. So, just enjoy it !

Here are my DON'Ts and DOs when teaching STEM (or any other) subjects: 1. Don't assume that everything is already said about the subject. When preparing your lectures on Calculus I, think how nice for the students will be to have your insights (history, applications, ...) on derivatives, e.g.; 2. Don't assume that your last semester lectures were perfection. Cultivate a beginner's mindset and try to prepare more meaningful lectures in the next semester; 3. Don't just inform students about (close) Theorems and resolutions. They can find these facts in books and videos. Talk about how several mathematicians struggle to find a proof for an intuitive Theorem. Promote discussion on different possible resolutions of a given problem.

In this contex, I used LinkedIn as a source of great learning and developing and maintaining criousity. The connection I make here plays an important. As you get insight of industry and gain new solutions which take your dimensions of thinking into new horizons.

Keep an eye on the big picture: When formulating plans for your institution, keep the big picture in mind. Think forward to potential demands, trends, and obstacles, and devise plans to overcome them. Embrace change: Make an effort to create an innovative environment at your workplace. To propel positive change and innovation, promote risk-taking, creativity, and the discovery of fresh ideas.

To enhance your strategic thinking in the higher education sector, make it a habit to subscribe to industry reports from reputable organizations such as the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) and EDUCAUSE. These reports provide comprehensive data and analysis on various aspects of higher education, including enrollment trends, technological advancements, and research developments. By regularly reviewing these reports, you can stay informed about the latest trends and emerging issues, allowing you to make data-driven decisions and anticipate future challenges and opportunities in the field.

It is a responsibility of a higher education professional to be updated with the recent trends within their respective fields. Analyzing trends through various methods viz. research, review, observation, exposure visits, and participation at any learning and exchange platform will enhance the understanding of current trends and identify the gaps. These gaps are opportunities to work on and contribute more towards the field of education.

Strategic thinking is directly proportional to what are the Actually Trending issues! Understanding and responding to the Trends is helpful to keep up with the pace of Time!

There are some strategies that I normally follow to understand the trends in Higher Education professionalism. Some of them are Connecting and collaborating with other higher education professional through education expos, social media platforms like LinkedIn and other professional groups. Continuously looking opportunities to learn by going through courses and certifications. Signing up for a newsletters of leading education organizations as well as renowned universities library.

Murphy's law states 'anything that could go wrong will go wrong'. One can react or respond to anything going wrong, but it would be better to go over all the possible or plausible outcomes. All the military disasters were infact result of losers not conducting proper war gamings exercises.

It's happened to teachers around the globe: you've started instruction, and the audience is not appreciative. Sometimes even the best lesson plans can go awry. How do you recover your original objective for the lesson, and reframe it so the class is back on target? Always have a plan "B." I have a few "flexible assignments" that will work on any English student, regardless of their age and experience. One of these is called "The Letter from Me," where I ask my students to write a letter to themselves at age 12. (Or age 50, if you're teaching adults.) These flexible assignments give the students some valuable practice topics and promote participation. When all else fails...a quick writing prompt can save the day.

Collaborating widely will surely enhance the strategic thinking skills of higher education professionals. Collaboration with stakeholders will provide a wider perspective of the subject. Interdisciplinary course curricula, research studies, action projects; student and faculty exchange; seminars and conferences are a few examples of collaboration in the education sector.

Collaborations are the foundations for any innovation and progress. It however requires stepping out of the comfort zone. The biggest upside of cross disciplinary collaborations is the new perspectives that one gains from the collaborators which couldn't be achieved if one was to remain confined within his/her domain.

Collaboration is the core of strategic thinking! By collaborating with colleagues across my institution and in similar offices at peer institutions, I am often aware of patterns before they are acknowledged as trends. Collaboration also enables me to plan scenarios more effectively by seeing what has and hasn't worked at my peer institutions. Talking to my collaborators also provides and opportunity for reflection and feedback to help me improve over time. Collaboration is essential. Luckily, it's also affordable. All of my most fruitful collaborations have cost me about one hour of my time and the price of a coffee/tea.

One can be one's best critic if done honestly. I learned this lesson when I was an undergrad student and I organized an event which failed terribly. After the event I sat down alone and reflected on the reasons of failure and found what I did wrong and how could it be improved. Based on this reflection I organized the same activity in the next semester and the event was a success. Only you can be your best critic provided you are honest with yourself.

Writers of any age and purpose need to learn how to reflect eloquently about the topic they are discussing. Eloquence is not something you develop--either you are eloquent, or you are not. If you are, then chances are, you're already employed or working towards a college level degree. However, what if writing just isn't one of your strong points? First of all, don't admit failure. Academic writing consists of theories and identifying patterns and strengths of a text. Be confident. Unless your instructor says otherwise, don't use the first person. You are part of "we," the guide the student will appropriate as they build their essay portfolios. The "I" perspective is only used in narration. Develop and defend a strong thesis.

La reflexión es fundamental, tanto antes de una decisión, como después de una decisión. Un error común del pensamiento estratégico es no reflexionar y no darse cuenta que cambiaron algunas situaciones lo que requiere adaptar el plan. Este error ocurre por no reflexionar.
