This means working on aspects like strong speech delivery , clear pronunciation, enunciation of the right words, taking relevant pauses, body language and engagement skills with your audience. Even if you already know these skills, practicing them regularly helps you get even better. You can also learn from others by watching great speakers and taking courses. Alternatively you could consider working with a public speaking coach. By always learning and practicing, you'll feel more confident and become a stronger speaker over time. The more you work on the basics, the more your public speaking career will grow.

Those who aren't known to share their knowledge to improve our quality of life will rise to the top. The best thing about a YouTube channel and a Podcast, all you need is your smartphone and your voice.

Two tricks I use all the time: 1. Progressive disclosure: use animation to reveal part of the data at a time. I only show the relevant information, number or line in a graph when I am speaking about it, progressively building the full picture instead of showing it all at once. This helps focusing attention and avoid ill-timed questions. 2. Dark overlays to dimm content and highlight focus. I will add a dark semi-transparent shape above the data table or graph to add a dark shadow on top of what is less important, only leaving in clear what is relevant. For instance I will darken out all table columns but one that I will highlight. I usually combine with an animation: first show the full data and then the overlay to focus attention.

It also equips you with the ability to draw connections between seemingly unrelated subjects, which can make your talks more engaging and insightful. For example, a speaker with expertise in communication who also understands leadership might deliver a unique and compelling presentation on how communication impacts leadership behavior.

However, be careful of being the jack of all trades and master of none. ?? Whenever someone says they can speak on "any" and "all" topics, eyebrows are raised. ?? Choose a niche and go wide within it. For example, I speak about safety, security, safe culture, and AI cybersecurity. I can talk about topics from personal safety, home security, auto safety and safety on the road, to college student safety, to home health safety, to generative AI cybersecurity and more. I stay in my lane, though. I am not an expert on OSHA safety. And you'll only find me talking about topics like social media planning and video creation, when it's about safety and my topics. They simply aren't my true passion and I'm afraid that lack of depth would show.

Consider also finding a public speaking mentor. This can be a senior executive who knows specifics about your industry or company, or a professional coach who can raise you to a higher level by providing personalized feedback and advises. We often do not see our own bad habits or area of improvement, which is why every great communicator has one of not several advisors and coach trained in oral communication. Do not forget that even the best of actors and political figures have coaches and directions from the movie director. It has been a constant throughout my career that the best presenters are also the most coachable as they realize the value of external eyes to fine tune their image.

The best way to get honest feedback is to ask for it. Most people won't dare to say clearly what they really think of your performance on stage. That's why you need to ask frankly: "What could I have done or said that would have improved my speech in terms of both content and form? If your ambition is to grow, NOT being afraid of honest feedback can save you months or even years in developing your skills.
