Simple philosophy- if it is not in SFDC, it did not happen. Single source of truth and captures all the relevant information needed to make decisions. Have to be diligent in putting in accurate and consistent information and if you do, everything is easier. Forecasting gets more accurate, pipeline is easier to manage, can follow up on leads/opps via tasks, can have sales and CX updating accounts so everyone is on the same page.

The CRM is the foundation of the entire sales process from prospecting to closing to (even up to contracting/ invoicing). Once in place, all other tools should be integrated into the CRM. The entire sales team should have one common view of all activities, prospecting, pipeline development, target markets, in process campaigns and more. Social is critical to effective outreach. Despite all the technology; a satisfied client is the best prospecting tool ever.

Most sales people do the minimum when it comes to updating the CRM tool and for using the CRM as it was likely intended upon purchase. Let's face it, sales people don't want to be bothered by administrative duties. However, I found out about 15 years ago if you go into your CRM and 1) you force fields to be filled in and provide dropdowns for sales people they will do what is needed and required so yo as a sales leader can do what you need to do. 2) You can also do this with demand generation/prospecting too. In almost every CRM there is a campaign area within the CRM and you can force workflow that makes a sale rep complete a certain amount of activity on a daily basis that is directly tied to demand gen/prospecting activities.

AI is game changing in the prospecting arena but you have to use it wisely - because any outreach that looks automated will end up in SPAM - so my guidance is to leverage AI for customized messaging but add a personal element to it. More is not better in prospecting- quality is better demonstrated if you know the clients business and that is up to the seller to add that final piece.

One thing that I have done differently: I integrate AI tools with CRM systems to automatically update lead scores and customer profiles, enhancing the precision of my outreach strategies and increasing conversion rates. One thing that I disagree with and am leading: Instead of relying solely on AI predictions, I combine AI insights with personal interactions to validate and refine lead quality.
