When one realize that the system engineer is more of generalist and less of a specialists and as such require more moving around among people, then it becomes more clear that assertive and outgoing personality is something that is highly necessary for this role.

Sometimes this can be rather difficult. When you are an optimist with faith in people and when you trust the process, you dont take no for an answer. Sometimes, this can be wrong path to pursue, no matter if the thing is about, time, cost, amount of people or just the overall lack of knowledge to get the job done on time. Recognizing this situation can be very hard for system engineers but should be counted as great skill.
