I had found it is common to think that Quality personnel is in charge to meet the quality requirements of the Management system. When quality personnel only manages it. Management will determine the quality level. But the personnel will embody it. Following good practices, look to improve, be faster, reduce errors is the goal of the team members, that should be defined by top management, but the vehicle is the quality system. Keep the doors open of the business will depend in loyal customers. And they will return if the product or service received meets their expectations. The QA department can't make it happen , but the operational team members can do it. Themselves build up or destroy their own future in the company.

The best phrase I’ve heard is “everyone owns quality”. This is an important distinction from everyone contributes. Plus more knowledge through previous events and learnings. This is where welding Procedures and Qualifications for example may have been performed in the past. But may need to be challenged due to the default changes. Particularly where consumables and alloying elements have been upgraded.

We need to evaluate our QA process at regular intervals. If we know at a given stage how far or close we are from the desired results, the chances of improvement is more. Having a proper process to seek timely feedback from our clients and measuring it with the baseline is an effective method to achieve the set target delivery.

When you keep this in mind you develop meaningful policies and procedures because they are thought through and is a great combination of requirements and practices. The chances of such procedures being implemented in letter and spirit are very high as against if SOPs are written based on standard bought out templates.
