Once the goals are defined it has to be signed off from the functional owner and at no cost any further changes should be allowed, because too much of rework / iterations can create a lot of confusion within the team. We should always use the technique of ( SMART) Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound objectives which align with our organization's mission and vision. Someone saw your potential and (hopefully) assigned something aligned with your career path and growth expectations. Now it is up to you to understand it better and dig a little bit to find out what to do. Trust has to start with you. You have to trust that the goals you have presented are obtainable. You need to trust why you picked the individuals for this project. Your team will trust you but, they also need to be made aware of why you chose them. Tell them why they are so critical to the success of the project. Without that conversation (I would recommend that happens face-to-face.) how will you know that they aligned with you. Finally, you as the leader need to speak to the whole team and explain the uniqueness of each members contribution to reaching the goal. Taking the time to connect and explain will create a passion that can transcend the diverse differences. Creating transparency and respectability is the groundwork for trust.

One thing I’ve always found helpful is to lead with transparency. There are very few things that you can absolutely not share with your teams. However there are many more things that you can. Take time to share “just because”. Be transparent and also vulnerable. Own when you have missed the mark and how you handled the miss. Then watch people stop hiding their own mistakes! Transparency builds trust.

If you want to build trust, there is just one solution. Keep your promises. As simple as it sounds, it means to only commit to something you can actually deliver. You might have stumbled across the quote "under promise-over deliver". Live by it and trust will follow you wherever you go. Also: Keep in mind you are working with people. You should put humans into the center of your considerations - always!

One things really I found helpful was capacity building session and brainstorm session to promote innovation. People have ideas but you have that skills to extract it. What I do is arrange brainstorm meeting with teams, capacity building session and open discussion.

This can remove the risk of a shadow team duplicating cost an effort. It will also make the suppliers staff feel part of the team creating a sense of belonging.
