Peoples behaviours can tell alot about them and their belief. If there is any negative belief or what does not suits work ethic , it is not easy to change it. But what you do instead is show them an example and who would be the best example of someone who struggle with similar situation but overcame that .. can be you yourself. when you show them your own story, they would feel the honesty and transparency are the factors which base your foundation for betterment.

Constructive feedback should be: 1. timely: even if you put it out in the most professional way, delayed feedback is ZERO feedback. It loses its effectiveness and impact. Ensure feedback is given in a timely manner. 2. Specific: The thin line that differentiates feedback from criticism is how specific we are in our details. Ensure in your feedback, you're addressing specific behaviors and competencies NOT the individuals themselves 3. Ongoing: when employees receive feedback rarely, high possibility they will consider it like attacking them. Ensure feedback is continuous and planned for well. 4 Two-way dialogue: Always give the other person the opportunity to share their perspectives; otherwise, it becomes forced feedback.

I would add that by taking five minutes before giving feedback to balance the nervous system and get calm coherent first. Then access your inner intelligences and ask how can I deliver this feedback in the most compassionate creative and courageous way I can?

2 Be Timely

Timing is crucial when giving feedback. Aim to provide it as soon as possible after the observed behavior. This helps your employee connect the feedback with the action more clearly and reinforces the behavior if it's positive, or corrects it if it's not. Delayed feedback can lose its effectiveness and may even cause confusion or resentment. However, also be mindful of the setting; choose a time and place where the conversation can be private and uninterrupted.

When providing feedback, concentrate on the employee's behavior, not their personality. Be clear about the intent of the feedback, or as I like to call it, feedforward, is to focus on how to best move forward to support and help the person to be successful. It is not about letting it out so the feedback giver feels better. While it may seem obvious, operating based on this principle is where people may run into challenges, especially if their constructive feedback is met with strong resistance. Secondly, remember we have two ears but only one mouth. So, listen, listen, listen. Anticipate that constructive feedback is hard to give, and it is even harder to hear. Listen to the person’s response, observe their reactions, those are great cues to tell you where they are at, and think about how you can meet where they are.

5 Offer Support

Let your employees know that you're there to support them in their development. Offer resources, training, or mentorship to help them improve. Make it clear that feedback is part of their growth journey and that you are invested in their success. By being honest, transparent and empathetic. Every feedback should be given in a timely manner with the most clear communication without any unnecessary euphemisms. This will help the employees to understand and reflect on the areas they need to improve. The feedback should be given in a way that the employees feel it's for their betterment and not to humiliate them.
