Read your own work from beginning to end, as hard as that is for most good writers. We want to be done and then have others like our work. When the material is read, now sit and consider. Ask yourself this question: what is the story? That's right, forget about informing, structure, grammar and all that analytical stuff. The human condition is screaming for a story and then a story that has a beginning, a middle and an acceptable end. No matter what you are writing or working on make your work tell a story and you will be rewarded.
