As I transition from my role as an ICT specialist into facilitation, I bring a set of transferable skills that are highly relevant and beneficial: Technical Proficiency: My background equips me to effectively manage both virtual and hybrid meetings, using advanced digital tools to enhance group collaboration. Problem Solving: I am adept at quickly identifying and addressing issues, which is crucial for maintaining momentum in group discussions and decision-making processes. Project Management. These skills, honed in the ICT sector, prepare me well for a successful career in facilitation, where technology and clear communication play pivotal roles.

Focus on identifying People skills (listening, managing conflict, etc.) and thinking processes (the basis of agenda development). These are what you bring to facilitation along with learning the basic - take an IAF endorsed training program.

In my experience as a Project Manager , besides looking into what my Team or I need to have as skills for the project demands but not only that also what additional skills we need to keep up with the pace of all changes that come not only in our company , client, industry, country , need to be aware of up coming new things , that can impact as an individual and also as a Team. That will help to be a better facilitator to have a more holistic view .

As a facilitator, adaptability in process may be a key skill - but it is only effective with there is continued clarity and commitment to what the facilitation is ultimately trying to achieve. When demonstrating your ability to quickly assess and shift methodology in process, there should always be a corresponding reflection on how you remain in sync with the client/group leader on what needs to be achieved during the facilitation. Shifting activity but still heading towards the same outcome is different than changing the desired outcome mid-stream - which can have much bigger implications on real-time design & communication with participants.

Pull on examples from your past where you've facilitated in ways that weren't necessarily formal facilitation roles. For example, have you been a project manager, or facilitated team meetings, or been part of a task force that planned a team retreat? All of these roles require facilitation skills. You've had to weigh different view points, make sure team members feel heard, problem solve, and perhaps navigate conflict. What did you learn from those experiences? How have those learnings shaped your perspective as a facilitator? What would you do differently moving forward? What are creative solutions you came up with that can be applied in a facilitator context?

As a Project Manager , I alway keep in mind that the main or now a day power skills that I need to do my job we are hired to solve problems , projects have many changes and we need to adapt to all the changes that come to us in different shapes, ways and forms. People, Technology , Process and the ecosystem that is around the projects I manage. I need to learn and relearn all the time to overcome all challenges and embrace opportunities
