I am specifically talking about water and wastewater treatment projects. Clear engineering drawings is a language the juniors understand at site. Normally consultants submit separate engineering discipline drawings viz. civil, Mechanical, Piping drawings. Juniors need to have overall perspective of the Project, irrespective of their expertise. All inclusive General Arrangement Drawings or the overview drawings are very helpful for all to understand the project as a whole ! Yes from "Whole to the part" is the key. Competency matters but overlapping of expertise and confidence is more important in execution. ( Remember Johan Cryuff , dutch superstar and his revolutionary concept of Total Football).

One thing I found important was giving them the opportunity to discuss how they believe they can complete the task. Giving people the opportunity to participate in how they achieve a goal encourages creativity and rethinking. From here, you can better guide them in how to apply their skills.

Encourage open communication and feedback to cultivate a collaborative environment and promptly address challenges by facilitating team discussions where junior engineers can brainstorm solutions and discuss issues.
